A facial toner is essential step in your skin care routine. It helps rebalance your skins pH, but also has a great tightening effect on your pores and it helps bind moisture to your skin.
Why is tightening your pores so important?
Large facial pores allow more dirt, oil and toxins to enter the skin and cause irritation and aging. A toner is essential in tightening your facial pores, allowing fewer oils and toxins to settle into the skin. This creates a fresher, cleaner and less oily appearance and helps to prevent breakouts.
What Are the Benefits of Face Toner?
The most important job that a toner does is help balance the pH of the skin post-cleanse, but it turns out that that's not the only benefit.
Removes impurities: If you can see a pore, it's usually because trapped impurities have made it visible. Toner removes oil and traces of dirt, bacteria, and makeup. It also removes the dust, pollution, and impurities that can still be lingering after washing with a cleanser. It is an important step in your skincare routine to ensure that all impurities are removed before applying your products. Did you know that pores that are clogged with oil, impurities, and makeup for a long time can stretch permanently. The older you get the more obvious your stretched pores tend to be as our skin has lost firmness and elasticity. It's critical to act upon visible pores as soon as you notice them. The longer pores are left untreated, the weaker the pore walls are likely to become.
Protects skin: Toners help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing, reducing the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the skin. Why is this so important… it works to tighten the pores and keep your complexion looking flawless by reducing the appearance of pores. Adding a toner can even help protect and remove chlorine and minerals present in tap water.
Product Absorption: A great toner helps exfoliate, while balancing the PH level of the skin. This is turn helps your other skincare products penetrate deeper into skin. Anything you apply after will penetrate deeper and you will reap the full potential of the product. ( Who doesn’t want more Wake Up & Glow Hydration goodness)
It refreshes skin: Toner can also be used in lieu of washing your skin when it's oily or dirty and you can’t wash your face. It will leave your skin revitalized even when you're on the go. We love to spritz a bit on when working outside on a hot summer day.
Wondering how to use face toner?
Toner is your first step after cleansing your face. It's best applied by saturating a cotton ball or cotton round with the formula and gently blotting the skin. Not the cotton ball type? Our Wake up and Glow toner is available in spray form, which can help minimize waste (bonus points) and make for convenient, easy application.
How Often to Use Face Toner?
Normal to combination skin, you will want to add our toner to your evening beauty routine. If your skin is able to tolerate it, you can opt for twice daily.
Use every other day for very dry skin, or when needed.
For oily skin, we suggest using toner twice daily toner in your routine. The exfoliating properties help to absorb excess oil, remove dead skin cells, and prevent future breakouts.
