Why coconut oil?
Coconut oil comes in two types - refined and virgin coconut oil. Virgin coconut oil is unrefined and retains its sweet, tropical flavor, whereas, refined oil has a more neutral flavor and smell because it has gone through a lot of processing.
Coconut oil has been found to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help repair the skin and improve its barrier function, making it an excellent moisturizer.
Why coconut oil is the ultimate skin and hair summer hack
Coconut oil has many benefits for your hair and skin, especially during the summer months. You can use it to tame frizzy hair or as an in-shower mask to improve moisture. The antimicrobial properties in coconut oil also help treat dandruff and improve scalp health.
You can even use coconut oil as a body moisturizer or lip balm. It’s especially hydrating for people who have eczema or atopic dermatitis.
Coconut oil is truly the multi-tool of summer beauty hacks, but its moisture-locking density can become a problem to those with acne prone skin – so use sparingly my sensitive-skinned beauties!

Deep Hair Conditioning
Some of the best hair conditioners contain coconut oil to help prevent protein loss and to help the moisture penetrate your luscious locks. Apply a quarter-sized amount to your hair, comb it, pile it into a loose bun, and put on a shower cap. Rinse with a mild shampoo by morning.
Hair Mask
You can also use coconut oil in place of a hair mask by mixing 3-5 teaspoons of coconut oil with 20 drops of rosemary oil. Massage into your hair and cover with a shower cap. Rinse out with shampoo after 30-60 minutes.
Add Shine
The drying summer sun doesn’t need to affect your hair. Adding a tiny amount of organic coconut oil to the ends of your hair will make your hair shine while a bit on the scalp can help with dandruff. Just be careful because too much oil can give you a greasy look you might not be going for!
Body Moisturizer
Sun, sand, and salt water does a number on your skin in the summertime and dries up the helpful oils on your skin, but coconut oil can be an effective body moisturizer and can be used as a lotion, spray, or oil.
Other coconut oil can-do’s:
-Moisturizer for dry hands
-As after-shave cream
-As body scrub or body lotion
-Nourishing your cuticles
-Relieving eczema and psoriasis
-Hydrating foot treatment
