October Self Care
Putting your best self forward requires choices. Sometimes it is hard ( especially for busy ladies or moms) to step outside of our comfort zones and put ourselves first. Between careers, kids, pets, significant others we struggle to find a balance to take time to appreciate ourselves and recharge.
"Self-care is a necessity, not an indulgence."
Here are My Self Care tips and YYC favs
1- Every am I get up and do some body stretches followed by a peppermint cold cloth. I keep one in the fridge and put on my face before coffee and before the hustle and bustle when the kids and cat wake up. I feel refreshed and ready to take on the day! Peppermint is a multitasking machine with a plethora of beauty and health benefits.
2- Book a Facial, Massage or ANY treatment.
I love Soma spa and Touch Esthetics YYC. Their facials are out of this world!
If a spa visit isn’t in the budget, a bubble bath, or an at home mask can be indulgent. ( just remember to lock the door and tell the cat, dog, kids or significant other…. Do Not Disturb)
3- Try a Sauna or Steam or better yet both!
Check out Cedar and Steam, this amazing offering is new to YYC in Avenida -a flight of Kombocha is served after your treatment. Their unisex Sauna and steam room doesn’t require an appointment! So it is great when you just need to fit in some me time! Best experience EVER
4. Yoga
Yoga develops inner awareness. It focuses your attention on your body's abilities at the present moment. It helps develop breath and strength of mind and body. You also get great physical benefits with a boost to your metabolism, increased flexibility and cardiovascular health!
My must days are Monday and Fri at noon with Dawn - Foundations/Flow - Breathe Hot Yoga.
No time for a class, YouTube has some great easy to follow videos.
5. A treat
A great way to reward yourself while taking care of your skin! Purchase yourself a new Lip gloss or Tint!! My favs are Glo Minerals Lip Balm in cherry or mint. For a dash of color I love Wake Up & Tint.
If you think about it, it makes sense: Taking care of yourself puts you in a position to be a better everything!
The "build it into the daily/ weekly/monthly calendar" is key to ensuring you fill up your tank: If you don't actually make space for your self-care, it isn't going to happen. Self care isn’t a one time deal. It is something we all need to practice. Regular self care habits make sure we are at our optimum—emotionally, physically, and mentally.
We would love to hear what your favourite self care habits are in the comments!
